Fiona Millward: Fiona brings her extensive experience in dance and integrating multiple somatic movement and touch modalities.
I was fortunate to have been raised by a family who were passionate about being active. Movement has therefore been a part of my life from a very young age and remains the foundation of all of my work. It has been a privilege to work as teacher, performer, facilitator, and choreographer since 1985 and to be able to bring those experiences into my work with people in various capacities.
As part of my commitment to the development and affordability of movement training for contemporary dance artists I co-directed Independent Dance alongside Gill Clarke from 1996-2015.
The fascination with how each individual discovers greater physical freedom and expression has always shaped my movement practice, and I have explored and benefitted enormously from a range of somatic approaches. With the desire to create an integrated and wholistic approach to all of my work, a deep respect and love for the resilience and mystery of the body, and a curiosity about how we move through life – I have delved more deeply into and am qualified as a practitioner/ educator in the following modalities:
- Rolfing® Structural Integration
- Rolf Movement™
- Franklin Method™ Level 2
- Sharon Wheeler ScarWork™
- Scaravelli inspired Yoga
- Hanna Somatics
- Therapeutic Massage (USA and UK)
I continue to be inspired by the mediums of movement and touch, believing they offer an invigorating and intrinsic understanding of the world around us, as well as the world within. www.fionamillward.com
