Dr. Sara Reed

​Dr Sara Reed has held senior posts at the University of Surrey, Dartington College of Arts/Falmouth University, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Coventry University. She is co-chair for Independent Dance London and has also worked on a consultancy basis with Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Dance East, Youth Dance England and Dance Art Foundation. Her career has spanned a wide range of dance, performance, arts and education contexts. She has supervised and examined  PhD students in the areas of Dance, Somatic Practices, Embodied Practice, Pedagogy and Arts & Health. Sara was a team member on the three year, Leverhulme Funded Project, ‘In the Dancer’s Mind’ with colleagues from the Centre for Dance Research at Coventry University, Plymouth University and Trinity Laban, London. She is a qualified Feldenkrais Practitioner and is an associate editor of Theatre, Dance and Performance Training Journal and on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Dance, Movement & Spiritualities (Intellect Journals) and the Journal of Dance & Somatic Practices. She has published widely in her specialist area of embodied-movement, the dancing body, somatic practices and pedagogy with a long practice and research history in movement and the dancing body. Sara is a freelance academic, practitioner-researcher and writer.
